It's 2022 on planet Earth. You're an alter inside a body that is possibly not your own. Don't panic! Nothing bad has happened. You're here for a reason, possibly to help the body in a bad situation, or maybe for no reason!In front of you is a device to the internet, a place where people around Earth can interact with people and post their thoughts! For a small screen, it's a phone! You can use it to call emergency services (911, 999, 112, etc)If its a bigger screen, it's most likely a tablet! It's the same as a phone, but possibly no phone calls. A big screen with a keyboard (a board with numbers and letters,) is called a computer!Right now, a pandemic is going on called COVID-19. You may see people around you wearing masks to protect themselves and other people from the illness. It is wise to wear one of your own as well to keep people safe!You possibly have some friends to talk to (On Tumblr, a social media website, or Discord, a platform you can talk to people on!) So feel free to ask them questions about your current whereabouts and situation!You may be hearing voices, but don't panic. Those are alters just like you, interacting with each other. You can talk to them as well, you may not. Either way, you're doing your best, and that's what matters!If you're in a stressful situation, drink some water and go to a calm place if you can. If you're in a dangerous situation, contact your country's emergency service number.If you're on Discord, there's possibly something called Plural Kit in one of the servers or in your Direct Messages! Plural Kit is a bot that helps with setting up alters to interact with people in servers!
Who you are!
You're an alter! It's normal to not know who you are at the moment, and there's no time limit to finding out. You can find out on your own pace, and your own research!First, you can find a name! Make sure it's not from a closed culture (Ie. Japanese, Arabic, etc) and choose it! Make sure to say it outloud and refer to yourself as it a few times to see if it fits you!Second, pronouns! You can use the pronoun page linked at the bottom of this screen to test out a few pronouns, neopronouns, and noun-pronouns!You may come from a source, such as a television show, a game, or possibly a book! That's okay, you're still valid and respected in the community! You can take your time to figure out which source you're from, or just not find out at all! It's all your choice!You may come from a real life person, possibly someone who has hurt the body, or is a friend. But do not worry, you are NOT that person. You're there to help the person, and they should treat you with just as much respect as everyone else.You may have an Inner World (IW), or you may not. It's a place where alters can interact and rest from front (which is where you are right now!) If you do go to the IW, you can ask around on what's happening. I'm sure they're more than happy to explain since they were once in your position!If you do not have an IW, look for a paper, or possibly a Google Document with interactions of the alters. If there is none, leave your own note with your questions! Put it in a place someone in your system can find it!
